About – Palimpsest “The act of revealing” Paintings by Susan Hall

Celebrated and award-winning artist Susan Hall has been creating contemporary paintings as well as works in fiber, textiles and ceramics most of her life. Hall, who lives in Ketchum, Idaho has a rich, creative history as a successful interior designer, highly regarded art and art history teacher, art consultant, as well as fiber artist and painter.

“Working on the floor, on an easel, or on un-stretched canvas stapled to the wall, I begin to work by randomly spraying diluted paint and water onto canvas, then taking the image further with layers of paint, incorporating collage, stitching and/or wax. I work until the piece is completed: it usually tells me “when.” Cherished fragments of antique fabric may be incorporated as well as pieces of my own hand-built porcelain. Hall’s abstract or suggestively pictorial images encourage a viewer to interact and connect on an emotional level.

Hall has her work in numbers collections around the country and in France. She has participated in many art shows locally and on the West Coast.
